Trustees' role

Trustees are key to the operation of the John Evans Charity. They are the individuals who are responsible, accountable and liable for the actions of the Charity. Their primary role and responsibility is to administer and manage the Charity, but the day-to-day running of the Trust is through the Clerk.

While the Clerk is the primary route for beneficiaries to contact the Trustees, all Trustees have a role in talking to the beneficiaries on a regular basis to ensure they are happy with what the Trust is providing for their support. Trustee meetings are held three times a year at the Trinity Centre and there are also social events, such as a Christmas gathering.

No prior experience is required, and the Trustee's primary role is to attend the necessary meetings, take collective decisions, and undertake such training that is necessary to undertake the role, for example safeguarding. Such training is provided through the Almshouse Association. There is no payment, but expenses agreed by the Trustees will be refunded.
